321 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND REDDITT, Wilfred Victor Wilfred Victor Redditt was born on February 13, 1882, in Richmond Hill, Ontario. Prior to enlisting, he was employed as a banker in Mount Hope, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) on March 13, 1918, in Toronto with the 2nd Tank Battalion. He embarked for the United Kingdom, arriving on October 18, 1918, and spent some time in the hospital with influenza. In November, he returned to Canada, arriving back on November 29, 1918. He was discharged on December 31, 1918, as medically unfit, as a thyroid issue was uncovered during the discharge medical. He was awarded a recognition scroll by the town of Richmond Hill on January 22, 1919, which is now on display at the Richmond Hill Legion. Wilfred returned to his banking occupation and married Kathleen Maude Sproule on August 18, 1920. He was manager of the bank in Pickering and finally in Keswick when he retired. Wilfred passed away on November 25, 1957, and is buried in Cannington, Ontario. REDMON, John Arthur John was born on July 31, 1949, in Toronto, Ontario. He enrolled in the 48th Highlanders of Canada as a Non-Commissioned Member on December 10, 1965, and served until July 3, 1974, transferring to the Regular Army the next day with a commission, serving with The Royal Canadian Regiment (The RCR). He participated in a domestic operation during the Montréal Olympics in May-August 1976, Operation COJO. He served twice with the United Nations Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) on Operation SNOWGOOSE September 1977-April 1978 and September 1984-March 1985. He also served in Afghanistan with the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) on Operation ATHENA September 2008-April 2009. John served until July 31, 2009. He resides in South Lancaster, ON and is an active member with The Royal Canadian Legion Claude Nunney V.C. Memorial Branch 544. REED, Robert John Robert was born in Canterbury, England, on December 12, 1909. He enrolled in the Army (Regular Force) on May 10, 1941, and served in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Central Mediterranean until his release on July 17, 1946. He received the 1939-1945 Star, Italy Star, Defence Medal and Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. He resided in Streetsville and was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 139. Robert passed away on February 8, 1990.
