307 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND O’DALE, Charles “Charlie” Charlie was born in Dawson, Manitoba on November 17, 1913. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force (Regular Force) in 1944 and served in Canada. He received the War Medal for his World War II service and a Bravery Medal for saving a life while working in the mines in Kirkland Lake before his service in the Air Force. He was released in 1945. He was a forty-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Midland Branch 80. Charlie resided in Midland, Ontario from 1945 until his death on April 30, 1990. O’DALE, Charles P. “Chuck” Chuck was born in Windsor, Ontario on May 8, 1946. He served enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy on March 1, 1964 in Communication Research and Electronic Warfare. He served on HMCS Chaudiere and Oriole in England and did two tours in Alert. He was released on January 1, 2000 and was awarded a Special Service Medal and Canadian Forces Decoration. Chuck currently resides in Ottawa and is a six-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Kanata Branch 638. PAGAN, William Donald William was born in Tottenham, Ontario on April 21, 1923. He attended Aurora High School between 1937 and 1941 where he was prominent in football, baseball, hockey and softball. He enlisted in the Air Force (Regular Force) on January 5, 1940. He received wings in Moncton, New Brunswick, was sent overseas in May 1942, and was attached to 412 Squadron RCAF. While flying Hurricanes, William was promoted to Flight Sergeant on March 27, 1942. On November 25, 1942, he was piloting Spitfire BL820 on a rhubarb mission with P.O. Lloyd Pwell to disrupt local transport infrastructure to hinder German advances in the region. It is assumed that William clipped some trees near the Château des Ifs inAlsace, France bringing down BL820. William was killed in the crash.
