283 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND McCOMBS, Oren E. Oren was born on August 10, 1915, in Fonthill, Ontario. He enlisted in the Canadian Army on June 16, 1942 and served with the Royal Canadian Artillery in Continental Europe and the United Kingdom during World War II. He was discharged on January 11, 1946 and was awarded the 1939-1945 Star and the France and Germany Star. Oren passed away on November 21, 2003. McCOURT, Arnold R. Arnold was born in Sudbury, Ontario on September 29, 1922. He enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) in 1940 and served as a Tank Crew Commander in Sicily and northern Europe during World War II. He was injured in the Battle of Ortona, Italy on December 24, 1943 and was wounded again on May 24, 1944 after breaking through Hitlers line. He was patched up and sent back to his tank as there were no more reinforcements for Italy. He was released in 1945. Arnold resided in Waterford in 1949 and passed away on September 14, 2018. McCOY, Christpher Reginald Christopher was born in Toronto, Ontario on May 21, 1958. He enlisted in the Army on October 1, 1975, and enrolled as a private with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, R Regiment C in Toronto on February 16, 1976. He qualified as an Infantryman TQ1 on August 1, 1976, and as an Infantryman Machine Gunner TQ2 onAugust 25, 1976. He was promoted to Corporal on March 1, 1977, and to MCpl on May 14, 1978. He participated in a 5 Mile March on August 20, 1976, and qualified as a Junior NCO Course. Christopher was discharged on May 18, 1978. Chistopher has been residing in Tiverton since 2015 and is a 36-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Paisley Branch 295. He married Donna Gregg, and they raised a family. They had one daughter, Erin.
