277 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND McARTHUR, Lauchlan Lauchlan was born in Campbeltown, Scotland on April 15, 1905. He enlisted in the Canadian Army in 1940. Sergeant McArthur was discharged in 1946. He was Mayor of Oakville, Ontario from 1954 to 1955. Prior to his acclamation as Mayor in 1954, he served on the town council for six years, four as a councillor, one as Deputy-Reeve and one as Reeve. He was past president of The Royal Canadian Legion General Chris Vokes Bronte Branch 486. Lauchlan passed away on September 11, 1984, at the Lockhart Hospital, Lanark, Scotland. McAULIFFE, Earl Joseph Earl was born on May 25, 1922, in Maidstone, Ontario. He enlisted in the Canadian Army on October 22, 1942 and served in England, Holland and Germany during World War II. Sergeant McAuliffe was discharged in January 1946. He married and raised fifteen children. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Windsor Branch 143. Earl died of cancer on June 20, 1978. McCAUL, Christopher Curtis “Chris” Christopher was born on June 30, 1985, in Pembroke, Ontario, a short distance from where he grew up in Golden Lake. Christopher attended Air Cadets in Pembroke where he obtained the Rank of Flight Sergeant. He enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces on April 29, 2004, and graduated Basic Training a few months later in July at the St. Jean Military Base in Quebec. He then transferred to CFB Borden for training as a Mobile Support Equipment Operator and in October 2005, transferred to CFB Petawawa, 2 Service Battalion. In March 2007, Christopher was deployed to the Afghanistan conflict where he served for six months before returning home in August 2007. Corporal McCaul continued his service in Garrison Petawawa until his release on June 27, 2017. He was a recipient of the General Campaign Star (Afghanistan) and the Canadian Forces Decoration. He currently lives in Petawawa, Ontario with his three children. He has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for sixteen years and is currently a member of Legion Branch 72 Pembroke.
