255 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND MacEACHEARN, William Alexander William was born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia on January 6, 1934. He enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) on November 6, 1952, and served in Korea, Germany, Cyprus and Egypt. Despite having served abroad, William was also stationed at CFB Petawawa, CFBValcartier, and CFB London. He received the United Nations Medal – Korea, United Nations Medal – Cyprus, and Canada Decoration (CD). After his discharge on June 10, 1975, he took employment with the Canadian Medical Health Services at Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario as an Assistant PurchasingAgent for medical supplies. He remained at Victoria Hospital for a year and a half before retiring. William passed away on November 24, 1984, and was laid to rest at Carrying Place Cemetery, Quinte West, Ontario. MacKINNON, Donald Lachlan Donald was born on November 12, 1892, in Priceville, Ontario, Grey County. His parents were Neil and Elizabeth Brown MacKinnon. Donald was the first of three brothers to enlist in 1915 and served in England and France. His brother Neil was returned invalided and Hector served in England attached to the Flying Corps. He served with the 3rd Brigade, Canadian Field Artillery as a gunner in England and in France. Sergeant Donald MacKinnon was wounded on September 10 and died on September 13, 1917. He is buried in Aubigny, France. Donald’s name is on the family monument, McNeil Cemetery, Priceville and his name is inscribed on the cenotaph in Priceville. MacLEAN, John Cameron John was born on March 9, 1917, in Priceville, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army with the 49th Highlanders. During the war, John toured France and Germany receiving defence and war medals. John was discharged in 1946. He was a lifelong resident of Priceville and a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 308 in Durham for 57 years. John passed away on March 10, 2003.
