241 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND LAUTENSCHLAGER, Thomas Harry Thomas was born in Kitchener, Ontario on April 23, 1897, to John and Elizabeth (Rau) along with James, Mae, Margaret, Jennie, George, Ida and Alice. Prior to WorldWar I, Thomas was working at Hahn Brass when he received his draft letter. As per the directions, he reported and enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) in London, Ontario on May 23, 1918, with the Western Ontario Regiment, 1st Depot Battalion. He was put through basic training, but with the war winding down, he was kept at Manning Depot and received his discharge on February 7, 1919. He returned to his job at Hahn Brass. Thomas married Rubina and they raised three children, Edward who served in World War II, June who married Alfred Richards who served in World War II, and Harold who also served during World War II. He also had a grandson, Julian, who served as a peacekeeper for 41 years. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion New Hamburg Branch 532 for eleven years. Thomas passed away on November 12, 1967, and is laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery in New Hamburg. LEE, Elmer W. Elmer was born on June 14, 1914 in Green Bank, Ontario. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on September 11, 1942. He trained as an airplane mechanic in St. Thomas, Trenton and Charlottetown but did not see active service. He was discharged on October 19, 1945. Elmer passed away on February 13, 2009. LEE, Jack Jack was born in Bradford, England on February 28, 1925. He enlisted in the Royal Navy on June 15, 1943 and served on HMS Pembroke, HMS Orwell, HMS Marlborough, and HMS Drake during World War II. He was discharged on May 29, 146 and was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the Atlantic Star, the Italy Star, and the 1939-1945 War Medal. He was a member of Port Perry Legion Branch 419 for over 30 years and was President from 1976 to 1978. Jack passed away on June 11, 2000.
