217 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND JOHNSTON, Chester Elwin Chester was born in Montreal, Quebec on February 2, 1917. He enlisted in the CanadianArmy on September 19, 1939 and served as a radio and wireless operator with the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals in England, Holland, Italy, and Sicily during World War II. After his discharge on October 13, 1945, he worked for Remington Rand as the Eastern Ontario manager, living in Kingston, Ontario. He was a Life Member of The Royal Canadian Legion Kingston Branch 9. Chester passed away on April 18, 1980. JOHNSTON, Glen A. Glen was born on April 9, 1951, in Beaverton, Ontario. He joined the Canadian Army after graduating from High School in 1969. He received his basic training in Cornwallis, NS and was posted to CFB Cold Lake, AB before being posted to CFB Victoria, BC and CFB North Bay, ON. In 1975, He went on a peacekeeping mission in Egypt for six months. He was then sent to CFB Halifax, NS (1977-79) and then to CFB Bordon, ON where he was an instructor (1979-86). His last posting was in London, ON with the 1st Battalion of the Royal Canadian Regiment (1986-93). Due to medical reasons, he was discharged at the rank of Petty Officer II and Sergeant in 1994. He was awarded the Special Service Medal, the Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the Canadian Forces Decoration. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Huntsville Branch 232 for sixteen years. Glen passed away on June 18, 2009. JOHNSTON, Jordan W. “Wray” Wray was born on May 21, 1926, in Lindsay, Ontario. He enlisted in the Canadian Army on September 23, 1941, four days after his 15th birthday, and served with the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals in the United Kingdom and Italy during World War II. He was wounded in December 1944 near the Senio River in Italy and was entitled to wear one wound stripe. Following his discharge on April 26, 1945, he married Olive Bradimore and raised ten children. He was awarded the 1939-1945 Star, Italy Star, Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp and War Medal 1939-1945. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Sir Sam Hughes Branch 67 for three years. Wray passed away in October 2004.
