171 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND HANNIGAN, Lawrence Mervin Lawrence was born on April 9, 1948, in Hamilton Ontario. He joined the Navy when he decided to leave school. His time in the Navy helped him mature and later entered college successfully becoming a condominium Property Manager. Lawrence served with the Royal Canadian Navy on HMCS Cape Scott from October 5, 1965, to May 1968 rising to a Bosun’s Mate. Lawrence is a 13-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Metropolitan Branch 594 and has been on the Finance Committee and regularly helps the Ways and Means committee. Lawrence and his wife Cheryl live in Harrow, Ontario. HARE, Lloyd P. W. Lloyd was born on July 5, 1922, in Dayton, Ontario. He joined the Canadian Army and served with the Essex Scottish Regiment in Belgium, France, Holland, and Germany during World War II. He went overseas in 1941 and was on active duty after D-Day. After the war, he married Alice Cromack of Glasgow. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Thessalon Branch 182. Lloyd passed away in 1994. HARPER, Albert S. Albert was born in Hull, England on January 2, 1913. He enlisted in the Canadian Army on February 18, 1944 and served in Holland, Germany and France during World War II. After being discharged on April 25, 1946, he returned to civilian life and worked as a storekeeper. In 1950, he owned and operated a dairy farm until 1969 when he worked as a jail guard until retirement at the age of 65. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Port Perry Branch 419. Albert passed away on September 19, 1989.
