155 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND GOODWIN, Wray E. Wray was born on July 22, 1918, in Brantford, Ontario. He enlisted in the Canadian Army on April 28, 1942 and served with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps in England, France, Holland, and Germany during World War II. Corporal Goodwin returned to Waterford when he was discharged on March 13, 1946. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Waterford Branch 123 for 28 years and served as President in 1951. Wray passed away on February 20, 1974. GORDON, Ernest P. Ernest was born on July 16, 1923, in Eldorado, Ontario. He enlisted in the Canadian Army on August 11, 1942 and served in the Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment in Italy during World War II. He was discharged on February 11, 1946 and returned to Marmora, where he married and raised two sons. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Marmora Branch 237 for 35 years. Ernest passed away on April 1, 1980. GOSS, Robert A. Robert was born on December 28, 1912, in Ottawa, Ontario. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in July 1929 and was a metal worker/welder. He bought his release in March 1938 but quickly reenlisted in September 1939 to serve in World War II. His war time service was with 1 Fighter Squadron stationed at eight separate airfields throughout England and Scotland. During one of the bombing raids, his airfield was hit resulting in his being declared missing in action for a period of time. Following his return to Canada, he was transferred to Rockcliffe where he retired and moved to Smiths Falls, Ontario. He retired in January 1954 as a Sergeant. Robert passed away on July 20, 1972.
