123 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND FERGUSON, Gregory V. Gregory was born in Toronto, Ontario on August 9, 1963. He enrolled in the Army (Regular Force) in December 1980 and served with the 1st Battalion Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry and Military Police CFB London as part of UNFICYP and UNDOF. Gregory was released in May 1989. He continues to provide support to the Veteran Community as National President of the PPCLI Association and as an active member of the Branch 197 Buddy Check program. He is a 34-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Acton Branch 197. FERRIS, David Lloyd Lloyd was born on June 6, 1922, in the Woodhouse Township, Ontario, to Clarence Edkar Ferris and Elora Jackson. He enlisted in the Canadian Army in 1941 and served with the Royal Canadian Artillery 41st Battalion in Continental Europe, the United Kingdom and the Central Mediterranean during World War II. He was discharged in 1946. In 1950, he married Jean Elizabeth Swick and had one son. Lloyd worked Lake Erie and Northern Railway at the Simcoe station as an operator from 1946 to 1961. After his time with the Northern Railway, he was employed by Charles M. Wilson Motors Lincoln-Mercury dealer as a salesman and worked there until the company was sold in 1984. He then moved to Blue Star Ford in Simcoe for two years before his retirement. After retiring from the automobile business, Lloyd assisted his son at his business, Ferris Funeral Home in Simcoe. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Simcoe Branch 79 for 30 years. Lloyd passed away on October 3, 2009 and is buried in Walsh United Cemetery. FERRIS, John Sherman John was born on December 30, 1919, in Kincardine, Ontario. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941 and served with No.78 Squadron in Western Europe during World War II as a rear gunner in a Halifax Bomber. John was killed in action when his plane crashed in Norden, Holland in 1943 and is buried at the Hanover (Limmer) War Cemetery in Germany.
