117 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND ENGLISH, Charles Angus Angus was born on December 22, 1888 in the Woolwich Township, Ontario. He joined the Canadian Army on September 14, 1915 and served with the Royal Canadian Regiment 71st Battalion in France during World War I. Angus was killed in action in France in 1916 and is buried at the Canadian National Vimy Memorial in France. ENGLISH, Lorne R. Lorne was born on July 12, 1926, in Lindsay, Ontario. He enlisted in the Canadian Army on November 22, 1944 and served with the Canadian Provost Corps during World War II. Lance Corporal English was discharged on July 12, 1946. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Harry Brown V.C. Branch 497 for 49 years. Lorne passed away on December 20, 2000. ETMANSKIE, Peter H. Peter was born on October 6, 1892, in Barry’s Bay, Ontario. He enlisted in the Canadian Army on March 14, 1916 serving in England and France during World War I. He joined the 130th Overseas Battalion and on October 9, 1916 was transferred to the 12th battalion before being transferred again, to the 3rd Battalion this time, on November 12, 1916. He was wounded in an armed conflict in England and spent months in hospitals before he was discharged and returned to Canada. Following his discharge on December 7, 1919, he worked for the Ministry of Lands and Forests as a forest ranger. He was awarded the King George VI Medal and the Victory Medal 1914-18. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Barry’s Bay Branch 406. Peter passed away on May 29, 1974.
