Military Service Recognition Book 508 ONTARIO COMMAND STEED, James E. James was born in Windsor, Ontario on June 2, 1938. He enlisted in the Army on June 4, 1954 and served with the RCOC in Canada, Germany, Cyprus and Egypt as a Peacekeeper. He was discharged in December 1983. James has been a member of the Kingston Legion Branch 560 for 32 years. STEVENS, John Wilson “Jack” Jack was born in Burgessville, Ontario on February 28, 1925. He enlisted in the Army in London, Ontario on November 1, 1943 and was trained as a Radio Operator before going overseas. He rose through the ranks to Lance Corporal and served with the Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Highlanders in England, Germany, Belgium and Holland during World War II. After being discharged on June 4, 1946, Jack worked as a Tinsmith before moving to Tobermory, Ontario where his family operated Lands End Trailer Park. Jack retired in 1992. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the France and Germany Star, and the 1939-45 War Medal. He was a member of Tobermory Legion Branch 290. Jack passed away on December 8, 2014. STEVENS, Charles Norman Charles was born in Norwich, Ontario on October 6, 1926. He enlisted in the Army on March 14, 1945 in London, Ontario and had just completed his Bren Gun and Machine Gun Training when the war ended, so he didn’t have an opportunity to serve Overseas. After his discharge on October 31, 1945, he was Office Manager at Standard Tube Plant #2 before moving to Tobermory, ON where his family operated Lands End Trailer Park. He retired in 1991, but continued to be very involved in the Community as a member of the Tobermory Legion Branch 290 and a driver for Meals on Wheels. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal.
