495 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND WENCEL, Frank Jr. Frank was born on June 8, 1932 in Montreal, QC. He enrolled with the 25 Med Regiment RCA (M) in October of 1951 and remained until March 18, 1952. He then transferred to the Canadian Army Special Force and served from March 19, 1952 to March 19, 1955. He was with the Royal Canadian Engineers in Chilliwack, BC. He was posted to the 59 Field Squadron in Wainwright, AB on May 31, 1952 and to the 58 Field Squadron in Germany on October 27, 1952 until November of 1953; transferred to the 3 Field Squadron in Korea from January of 1954 until December of 1954; Posted to 6 PD. in January of 1955 for release; transferred to 56 Field Regiment RCA from April 18, 1955 to October of 1975 and retired as WO.2 (BSM) with the 69 Bty in Simcoe, ON. He transferred to 3 R.C.R. A.COY in Woodstock, ON on March 25, 1968 until April 1, 1970 as WO.2 (CSM). He was a founding member of 153 Varnaviar Air Cadet Squadron in Tillsonburg, ON from Feb. 1, 1976 to June 8, 1997 and retired as Captain. He has more than 50 years of service to Canada. He has been a member of the Tillsonburg Legion Branch 153 for 44 years. WEST, Chris H. Chris was born on May 13, 1946 in London, England. He enlisted in the Army in June of 1963 and served as a Reservist with the 29th Field Artillery in Canada until his discharge in September of 1963. He went to school at General Motors Institute (now Kettering University) then worked for GM before earning his own GM dealership. WERDEN, George H. George was born on November 2, 1926 in Alvinston, Ontario. He enlisted in the Merchant Navy on May 14, 1944 and served onboard the S.S. Alderpark in the Far East during World War II. He spent six weeks in hospital in Madras, India with bronchial pneumonia before being discharged on July 9, 1945. He has relayed many tales of his time aboard the ship to his children. He has been a member of the St. Marys Legion Branch 236 for 40 years.
