Military Service Recognition Book 490 ONTARIO COMMAND WARDEN, Clifford T. Clifford was born on September 9, 1923 in Toronto, Ontario. He served as a Private in the Canadian Infantry Corps as Canadian Volunteer during World War II. He was killed in action on May 16, 1945 at the age of 21 and is buried in Brookwood Military Cemetery in England. He left behind a wife and a six month old son. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Memorial Cross which were passed on to his wife. WASSERFALL (JENNINGS), Margaret Elizabeth “Betty” Betty was born on March 16, 1923 in St. Thomas, ON. She enlisted in the Air Force on February 10, 1943 and served as a Leading Aircraftwoman in Canada during World War II. She was a radar plotter in Dartmouth marking positions of known aircraft. She was discharged on September 4, 1945. She married William Wasserfall in 1945, a member of the British Fleet Air Arm and they had four daughters. She continued her education and became Head Librarian at Bayview Secondary School in the Richmond Hill, ON for 13 years from 1970 to 1983. She passed away on December 21, 2007. WARREN, Merrill A. Merrill was born on October 29, 1921 in Wilberforce Township, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on September 29, 1942 and served in the United Kingdom and the Central Mediterranean area with the Hasting and Prince Edward Regiment (Pioneer Platoon) during World War II. He was wounded outside Ortona and was hospitalized and returned to Canada. He was discharged on November 28, 1945. He had been a member of the Eganville Legion Branch 353 for 28 years before he passed away on June 11, 2016.
