Military Service Recognition Book 488 ONTARIO COMMAND VINE, Herbert Herbert was born in England on May 24, 1897. He came to Canada as boy of seven years old from a British orphanage. He lied about his age by one year so that he could enlist in the Army. He enlisted on September 24, 1914. Herbert served with the Canadian Field Artillery at the Battle of Ypres during World War I. He won a Medal of Honour for his participation in the Battle of Ypres. Herbert was a member of the Legion Branch 419 for ten years before he passed away in April of 1980. WALKER, Robert J. Robert was born on July 22, 1932 in Aylmer, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on March 21, 1951. He served with the 1 R.C.R. in Korea and was wounded in October of 1952. He was discharged on March 29, 1954. After re-enlisting he spent 10 years in the Air Force in Alymer, Borden and Portage la Prairie; and then discharged in 1965. He played hockey on the Imjin River in Korea. He was awarded the Canadian Decoration for his service. Robert passed away on May 10, 2015. He was a member of the Port Stanley Legion Branch 410 for 8 years. VINEGAR, Joseph Louis Joseph was born in Montreal, Quebec on July 15, 1922. He grew up in the town of Perth Andover, New Brunswick. He enlisted into the Canadian Armed Forces in Saint John, NB during World War II in June of 1940. Joe was a Signalman in 3rd Division in Barriefield, Ontario. Unfortunately, Joseph contracted pneumonia in January of 1941. He received a medical discharge in May of 1941. Joseph passed away on February 10, 2014. He was a member of the Marysville Legion Branch 15 in New Brunswick.
