Military Service Recognition Book 484 ONTARIO COMMAND TOWNSEND, Edward Ray Edward was born on September 15, 1925 in Montiello, East Luther Township, ON. He enlisted in the Army on August 4, 1943 and served with the No. 2 Canadian Army University Course Royal Regiment of Canada in Canada, England and C/E during World War II. He was wounded at Twente Canal on April 3, 1945. He was discharged on June 24, 1946 and on returning home, he attended U.N.B. in Fredericton and graduated with a degree in Forestry. He has been a member of the Huntsville Legion Branch 232 for more than 50 years. TREWIN, Arthur H. Arthur was born on October 11, 1913 in Haydon, Darlington Township, ON. He enlisted in the Army on November 25, 1942 in Bowmanville and trained in Brampton, Halifax then England as 8th Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment gunner. He served with the Artillery in Northwest Europe during World War II. They crossed the English Channel in barges, landing on Juno Beach on the second day in 1944. He was in Holland when Germany surrendered. He was discharged in March of 1946. He was a farmer most of his life and was a community minded person, was a member of the church and farmers association, etc. He has two sons and four grandchildren. Art and his wife June still live in their own home on the farm. TREEN, Lorne M. Lorne was born in Malagash, NS on December 29, 1919. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in September of 1942 and served as a Corporal with the 423 Squadron (ENGE) (Castle Archdale) in Canada, England and Northern Ireland during World War II. He was discharged on May 10, 1946. He received the Defence Medal, 1939 – 1945 Star, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp and the France and Germany Star. He was a member of the Legion Branch 85 for more than 50 years before he passed away on December 10, 1995.
