467 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND STANDEAVEN, Perry L. Perry was born on December 4, 1907 in St. Mary’s, ON. He served in the Army Medical Corps during World War II. Perry never served overseas. He was a talented lacrosse player on several Ontario teams including the 1940 Champion Owen Sound Georgina. He worked at Loblaws as a butcher for 30 years and another 10 years as a manager at Becker’s Milk Store. He was a Mason member in 1940 – 1941 at St. George’s Lodge Branch 88, Owen Sound, ON. He was also a member of the Etoicoke Legion Branch 217 and St. Mary’s Legion Branch 236. Perry passed away on January 22, 1997. STANLEY, Gordon G. Gordon was born on July 6, 1926 in Welwyn Garden City, England. He served in England, North Africa and in Europe with the K Battery 7th Armoured Division during World War II after enlisting in the Army in 1942. He was a member of the Orillia Legion Branch 34 for 8 years. STANKIEWICZ, Fred Bolesław Fred was born on January 28, 1923 in Drohobycz, Poland. He enlisted in the Army in 1940. He was a radio telegrapher in the First Polish Armoured Division and was awarded the following medals: Bronze Cross (Canada SPK) 1946 – 1966 for five years’ service, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal 1939 – 1945 and the 1939 – 1945 Star. He was discharged on August 24, 1948. He studied in England after the war at Burnley Municipal College, Lancashire, obtained a diploma and subsequently moved to Sarnia arriving May 18, 1952 in Montreal. He worked as an electrical technologist at Polymer – Now Nova Chemicals – until his retirement. Fred lived to the age of 90 and proudly received certificates from the Prime Minister and the Governor General, as well as from other levels of government for his birthday. Fred passed away on April 17, 2013.
