Military Service Recognition Book 444 ONTARIO COMMAND SCOTT, Henry B. Henry was born on August 6, 1912 in Haileybury, ON. He enlisted in the Army on May 22, 1942 with the Queen’s Own Riffles and transferred to Brockville Riffles. He served in the Caribbean area during World War II. His medals include the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. He was a Command Sergeant Major and acting Regimental Sergeant Major prior to his discharge on May 13, 1946. He butchered in Toronto until 1950 and moved to Wawa to work in the kitchen at Helen Mine. He eventually transferred to security with A.O.D. He was a member of the Wawa Legion Branch 429 for 55 years. Henry passed away on January 27, 2005. SCRUTON, James Kenneth “Ken” Ken was born on March 24, 1920 in Montreal, QC. He enlisted in the Air Force on September 25, 1942 and served with the RCAF Squadron 576 of Bomber Command. He served in England, Germany and Holland during World War II. Ken did 32 missions in the Lancaster Bombers. His “best missions” were the three food drop missions for Holland. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, 1939 – 1945 Star, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal, Operation Wings and the RCAF Reserve Pin. In civilian life, Ken had a lengthy career in Canada’s Federal Government Excise Tax department and as a tax consultant in retirement, Ken met and married Ruth Elizabeth Helliwell on New Year’s Day, 1944 and together they had three children: Doug, Karen and Ken. He was an accomplished pianist and avid stamp and coin collector and loved and owned numerous dogs. Ken passed away on March 6, 2011. SCOTT, James Trevor James was born on January 16, 1966 in Kingston, Ontario. He served with Princess Patricia’s Canadian Unit Light Infantry from 1988 – 1995. During this time, he served on the front line and drove fuel trucks through live fire. He served in 1991 at Cyprus and Bosnia from 1992 – 1993 with the Peacekeeping Unit. He was discharged in 1995. James received a Medal of Bravery for saving a police officer’s life in Niagara Falls, ON and the Queen’s Medal for Peacekeeping.
