437 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND ROMBOUGH, Ralph S. Ralph was born on May 16, 1925 in Bonar Law, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army in June of 1944. He joined the Algonquin Regiment and served during World War II. He landed in England in December of 1944 at the age of 19. He flew over Belgium in January and joined the 4th Division where he operated a Bren gun through Holland and into Germany. He was wounded in April. He volunteered to join the U.S. Army but on the boat home, the big bomb dropped on Japan and the war was over. Ralph was discharged in August of 1945. He has been a member of the Millbrook Legion Branch 705 for 68 years. ROUTHIER, Joseph Rolly Joseph was born on October 1, 1930 in Kapuskasing, Ontario. He joined the Royal Horse Artillery “B” Company on January 17, 1951. He served in Korea as a Radio Operator and as a Gunner during the Korean War. He was discharged on January 27, 1954. For his service, he was awarded the Korea Medal, Korea Volunteer and the United Nations Medal. Joseph was a member of the Kapuskasing Legion Branch 85 for 55 years before he passed away on November 18, 2008. ROPER, Charles Sidney Charles was born in 1889 in London, England. He was a member of the 75th Overseas Battalion Canadian Expeditionary Force. He served in France and Vimy Ridge during World War I. Charles was killed in action on March 1, 1917 in France.
