Military Service Recognition Book 432 ONTARIO COMMAND RICHARDSON, John D. John was born on March 7, 1930 in St. Marys, Ontario. He served with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry after enlisting in the Army on July 9, 1952. He served in Canada and in Korea during the Korean War. One of the tasks John was assigned during his time in the Military was to run communication lines. John was a member of the Legion totalling more than 50 years at a branch in Kingston and Branch 236 St. Marys before his death on January 1, 2014. RINN, Arthur W. Arthur was born on November 15, 1916 in St. Marys, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on May 7, 1942. He served in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany with the 4th Canadian Armoured Brigade during World War II. Art did not speak much about his war time experiences. He did, however, make it clear that he was not fond of the time that he was tasked to be a driver for a group of officers. Punctuality was not their strong suit and he spent many hours sitting and waiting for them. He was a member of the Thamesford Legion Branch 557 for 26 years. Art passed away on April 7, 1984. RICHARDSON, Thomas Elwood “Tom” Tom was born on October 23, 1924 in Strathroy. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Armed Forces in the London #1 District Depot Service on April 28, 1943. He trained at Wolsey Bar ace in London, Ontario as an Infantry man. On April 30, 1944, he was shipped overseas to fight in Italy and was wounded. He was then shipped back to Canada on February 6, 1945. He was honourably discharged on July 14, 1945. For his service, he was awarded Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, 1939 – 1945 War Medal, 1939-14945 Star and the 1943 – 1944 Italy Star. Tom passed away on March 25, 1982.
