He joined the Canadian Armed Forces on May 4, 1972. Bruce served with the Canadian Army as an Infantryman, Transport and Heavy Equipment Operator and Service Commando. He also served with the Royal Canadian Air Force as an Aircraft Engine Technician and Aircraft Mechanic.
