He followed in his brother’s footsteps and joined the Royal Canadian Navy Volunteer Reserve. He was the Lieutenant Commander of the HMCS Nipigon, the HMCS Baddeck and the HMCS La Hulloise on the North Atlantic, English Channel and the Mediterranean Sea. He also was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross and was Mentioned in Dispatches. John est né le 25 novembre 1918 à Saint John, au N.-B. Il a suivi les traces de son frère et s'est joint à la Réserve des volontaires de la Marine royale canadienne. Il était lieutenant commandant du NCSM Nipigon, du NCSM Baddeck et du NCSM La Hulloise sur l'Atlantique Nord, la Manche et la mer Méditerranée. Il a également reçu la Croix du service distingué et une Citation à l’ordre du jour. BROWN (BROCK), Eileen WWII/Deuxième Guerre mondiale Eileen was born in Rothesay, NB on May 14, 1921, the sister of Fred and John Brock. She graduated from the Netherwood School for Girls in Rothesay. She was a champion of the rights and duties of Canadian women and was in the inaugural class of volunteers into the Women’s Royal Canadian Naval Service (Wrens) in WWII, subsequently attaining the rank of Lieutenant WRCNS. She passed away on January 2, 2007. Eileen est née le 14 mai 1921 à Rothesay, au N.-B., la sœur de Fred et John Brock. Elle est diplômée de l'école Netherwood School for Girls de Rothesay. Elle défendait les droits et les devoirs des Canadiennes et faisait partie de la première classe de bénévoles du Service féminin de la Marine royale du Canada durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, avant d’atteindre le grade de lieutenant WRCNS. Elle est décédée le 2 janvier 2007. BURCHILL, John Garden Percival WWII/Deuxième Guerre mondiale John was born in South Nelson, NB on September 23, 1918. He joined the 2nd Tactical Air Force as a spitfire pilot in England and Northwest Europe. Flight Lieutenant Burchill was shot down on his 33rd operational trip and was captured; he became a Prisoner of War before escaping. John passed away in 2011.
