He enlisted with the Canadian Active Service Force in January 1942 and was posted to the 4th Heavy Battery. He did basic training in Fredericton before being transferred to the Saint John Fusiliers. Private Beers was sent to England in October 1944 where he was transferred to the North Shore (New Brunswick) Regiment. In December 1944 his unit was sent to the field in Holland. He was killed by enemy fire on February 2, 1945. Pte. Barrow was the recipient of the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and a Good Conduct Badge. He is buried in the Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery in the Netherlands. Thomas est né en juillet 1920 à Harcourt, au N.-B.
