85 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca HAMRLIK, Albert WWII Albert volunteered for service on November 11, 1942. He served on active service with the Royal Canadian Air Force at different air bases in Canada as Leading Aircraftman. Albert was honourably released from service on March 26, 1946 and received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. He was a Life Member of The Royal Canadian Legion Hodgson Branch 158 and on the executive committee as Secretary. Albert passed away on February 6, 1987 at the age of seventy. HAMRLIK, Edward “Eddie” WWII Edward joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in Winnipeg in 1942 for service in Canada as Leading Aircraftman. He was discharged on December 11, 1945 and returned to farm in the Hodgson area. Eddie was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Hodgson Branch 158. He was killed in a truck accident on November 1, 1972 at the age of 58. HANNAFORD, Richard Harold WWI Richard was born in Marlborough, England in 1889 and farmed in the Bagot, Manitoba area. He joined the Army in March 1916 in Winnipeg. Richard was a Private with the 78th Battalion, sailing from Halifax in May 1916 for Southampton, England on the SS Empress of Britain. He was married in England on August 1, 1916 and was sent to France on August 12, 1916. Richard died of his wounds while fighting in France on October 29, 1916 and is buried at the Vimy Memorial in France.
