67 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca FERRIS, Donavon “Don” WWII Don was born on June 26, 1924 and was raised on the family farm in MacDonald, Manitoba. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1943 and was discharged in 1945. Don farmed just north of Portage la Prairie after the war until 1953 when he was stricken with polio. Don passed away on June 16, 1962 in Winnipeg. FORREST, Frank L. WWII Frank was born in 1905. He lived on a farm in the Bagot, Manitoba area. He enlisted in the Army in 1943 and was sent to England. Frank served with the Medical Corps, also graduating from a motor mechanics school in London. He suffered a broken leg during a training exercise in Ipperwash, England. Frank was discharged in 1946. He passed away on April 5, 1999 at the age of 94. He was a Life Member of The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 468 in Hensall, Ontario. FORREST, Melvin George WWII Melvin was born in 1910 and lived on a farm in the Bagot, Manitoba area. He enlisted in the Army and after basic training was sent to England. George served with the Forestry Division in Scotland, also serving with the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps. Melvin passed away on December 28, 1997 at the age of 87. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion, Virden Branch 8.
