61 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca ELLIOTT, Thomas John WWI Thomas was born in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba in 1887 and resided in the Bagot, Manitoba area. He enlisted in May 1916 in Winnipeg, training with the Canadian Army Medical Corps. He sailed from Halifax for England on the SS Laconia in 1916. Thomas served in a Canadian Military Hospital in England and the continent as well as serving in France in July 1918 with the Canadian Army Surgical Corps, 7th Field. He suffered a dislocated shoulder and had tonsillitis while in the Army. Thomas was awarded the Good Conduct Badge. He sailed from Liverpool to Canada on the RMS Carmania in May 1919 and was discharged in June 1919. He married Clara May Byers of Portage la Prairie in Prescott, Ontario on June 20, 1919. EVERETT, Albert WWI Albert was born in Gravesend, England in 1888 and farmed in Bagot, Manitoba. He enlisted in May 1918 in Winnipeg and served as a Private with the 10th and 6th Battalion Canadian Garrison Regiment. He was discharged on February 26, 1919. Albert passed away on January 24, 1960 and is buried in Brookside Cemetery in Winnipeg, Manitoba. EVERETT, Ernest WWI Ernest was born in Gravesend, England in 1898 and worked on a farm in Bagot, Manitoba. He enlisted in March 1916 in Winnipeg sailing from Halifax in September 1916 for England on the SS Olympic. Ernest was a Private with the 107th Battalion, Canadian Mounted Rifles. He was sent to the continent in October 1916 and was in France by December 1916 where he was awarded the Good Conduct Badge. After the war, Ernest sailed for Canada from Southampton, England in March 1919 on the SS Olympic. He was discharged on March 31, 1919. Ernest passed away in 1971.
