He served in the Netherlands and Germany during World War II and spent one year in the Occupation Force. He received the 1939-1945 Star and the France and Germany Star. He was discharged in June 1946. RECUNYK, Steve WWII Steve volunteered for service early in the war. By 1943 he was sent overseas to England. He was in the Armoured Division Headquarter Signal RHQCAO during 1943 and 1944. He was on the continent of Europe. He served in Holland, No.2 LIM Section, Canadian Army Signal BEW Forces from 1944 to 1945. Steve also was in France with No.2 LIM Section, 1st Army Signals BEW Forces from 1944 to his discharge. After the war, Steve was employed with Security Storage until he passed away in 1952. His wife, Ruth (an English war bride) and their two children resided in England. RENAULD, George WWII George joined the Royal Canadian Engineers on January 15, 1942 in Fort William (now Thunder Bay), Ontario, then was sent to Winnipeg to #10 Depot, Engineers. He went overseas with the 1st Division, 9th Field Park and served in England attached to the British 26th ME Heavy Equipment section. He also served in the Central Mediterranean Area with the same unit, as well as in Continental Europe with the Canadian 3rd and 5th Divisions. When the war ended he landed back with the 1st Division in Holland and then back to Canada. He was discharged in Winnipeg, Manitoba on November 19, 1945. George joined The Royal Canadian Legion Hodgson Branch 158 shortly after his discharge. Later, he belonged to Strathcona Legion Branch 150 in Edmonton, Alberta where he resided with his wife Jean.
