127 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca LLOYD-RANDALL, Sharon Elizabeth PEACETIME Sharon was born in Hamilton, Ontario on Boxing Day 1955. She joined the Canadian Forces as a Metals Tech in 1975. Following basic training at Cornwallis, Sharon trade reassigned to Administration Clerk. After trades training at CFSAL Borden, she was posted to CFS Barrington, NDHQ Ottawa and CFB Lahr.While in Germany, Sharon met and married Glen Lloyd. Posted to CFBWinnipeg in 1984, Glen remustered while they were in Winnipeg to Flight Engineer and was posted to 447 Squadron after training. One year later, Sharon followed with a posting to CFB Edmonton. Sharon retired in 1995 as a Sergeant after twenty years of service. She received the Canadian Forces’ Decoration and Special Service Medal (NATO). She has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion since 1998, currently at Branch 065, Portage la Prairie and has served on the executive. LYLE, George E. WWI George was born in Hannah, North Dakota, USA in 1892. He enlisted in the Army and served in World War I. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Oxdrift Branch 41. George passed away in 1938. MABB, Herbert Sr. “Bert” WWI Private Herbert Mabb Sr. joined the 221st Battalion in Winnipeg, around 1915. He went overseas and was in the 78th Battalion while in England and Continental Europe. He was taken Prisoner of War in Germany. The first page of a diary he kept was dated 1918. It was written in pencil and very small so is almost impossible to read. Private Herbert Mabb was wounded in his hip with shrapnel. There were five Mabb brothers, their brother-in-law and one nephew overseas during 1914 to 1918 and they all returned safely. Three of them were in Halifax when their mother died. Unfortunately, she did not live to see them return.
