He joined the Royal Canadian Navy and served on H.M.C.S. Chippawa, H.M.C.S. St-Hyacinthe and H.M.C.S. Stadacona as a telegraphist during World War II. He was a member of Gladstone Legion Branch 110 for 37 years before he passed away in 2007. FRANKLIN, Harry B. WWII Franklin was born in Riceville, ON in 1908. He joined the Royal Canadian Army in 1942 and served with the Saskatoon Light Infantry as a machine gunner in England, Italy, Holland and Belgium. After the war, he moved to Inglis, MB where he worked as Postmaster until his retirement. Harry passed away in 1974 and is buried at the Asessippi Cemetery near Inglis, MB. FULFORD, Hugh Cyril WWII Hugh was born on June 5, 1917 in Mather, MB to Alfred and Tina Fulford. He married Ida Pearson in 1940 and joined the Royal Canadian Air Force a year later. He took his basic training in Trenton, ON and trained as a mechanic. He was stationed in Brandon, MB for two years before being posted to Debert, NS where he remained for the rest of the war. After the war, he farmed for several years before becoming manager of the Swan Valley Livestock Shipping Association. He was a member of Swan River Legion Branch 39. Hugh passed away on December 17, 1996 and is buried in The Legion plot at Birchwood Cemetery in Swan River, MB. FREE, Harold WWII Harold was born in Benito, MB in 1919. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II and piloted a Liberator Bomber to Cairo, Egypt and Karachi, India. After Victory over Japan Day, Flight Lieutenant Free flew over Prisoner-ofwar camps dropping leaflets of instruction. Harold passed away in 1950 and is buried at the Brandon Cemetery.
