He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in Winnipeg, Manitoba and served in Canada as a C.I.D. Inspector at McDonald Aircraft. William died in 1949. CÔTÉ, Dennis Roger WWII Dennis was born in Dauphin, Manitoba in 1924. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army in 1943 and was in the Anti-aircraft unit. After taking his basic training in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, he was stationed at A23 Nova Scotia for approximately one year then instructed at #ICD + MS Woodstock in Ontario. Dennis was later posted back to Halifax prior to D-Day. After the war, he farmed in the Dauphin area for a short time then was employed with the Canadian National Railway for 35 years in Dauphin, Swan River, The Pas, Gillam, and Lynn Lake, Manitoba. He and his wife, Irene Stewart, resided in Dauphin and raised four sons and one daughter. He retired in 1984 and still resides in Dauphin where he has been a member of Dauphin Legion Branch 20 for forty-six years. COX, Hugh Eugene Henry “Hughie” PEACETIME Hughie was born in Swan River, Manitoba on May 10, 1934. Because of his mother’s death when he was three weeks old, he was raised by his aunt, Mrs. Gertrude Horrill of Cartwright. At the age of 18, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force where he served during peacetime from 1952-1980. Hughie was stationed in Germany and on returning to Canada, was stationed in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan where he serviced the famous planes of the “Canadian Snow Birds”. Hughie raised a son and a daughter with his wife, Gayle Martel, and he passed away on May 12, 1999. COULOMBE, Edmund WWII Edmund was born in 1920 in St. Georges, Manitoba. He joined the Canadian Army and served with Les Fusiliers Mont-Royal, RCIC in Canada, England and the Low Countries of Europe. Edmund was killed in action on March 30, 1945 at the age of 25 and he is buried at the Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery in The Netherlands. He is commemorated on page 506 of the Second World War Book of Remembrance. His Grave Reference is XX1 B.1. Coulombe Lake, northeast of Reindeer Lake, was named after him in 1984.
