He joined the Royal Canadian Navy and served with HMCS Sioux, Haida and Athabaskan in the North Atlantic. Lloyd was a member of Leduc Legion Branch 108 for ten years. JOHNSON, Lloyd W. PEACETIME Lloyd was born in Carman, Manitoba on June 8, 1941. He joined the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve. KERNESTED, Johannes WWI Johannes, born at the Narrows, Manitoba on September 27, 1895, lost his twin brother at the age of 13. He was a fisherman but also farmed on his grandfather’s homestead. Johannes enlisted in the Canadian Army on July 13, 1918 and two months later, transferred to the Canadian Navy in Halifax. He was a gunner on the T.E.V. Princess Patricia and served in Canada from September 14 to December 19, 1918. He was discharged in Halifax in May 1919 and came home in good condition. Johannes married Arnthora Gislason on October 13, 1928 and they had six sons. He passed away at the Victoria Hospital on April 7, 1968 at the age of 72. JORGENSON, Barney WWII Barney was born in Selkirk, Manitoba in 1918. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in Canada and England during World War II. He was a member of Selkirk Legion Branch 42 for thirty years. Barney died in 1993.
