He joined the Army and served with the Lake Superior Regiment in Holland, Belgium, England, and France. He was a member of Lawrence Legion Branch 87. Edward passed away in 1977. HUDSON, Herbert T. “Bert” WWII Bert was born in Ochre River, Manitoba in 1921. He joined the Army and served in Italy with the 48th Highlanders. Bert was a member of Sainte Rose Legion Branch 232 before he passed away in 1998. HUTCHISON, John B. WWII John was born in Dauphin, Manitoba in 1924 and enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy in 1942. He took his basic training at HMCS Chippewa in Winnipeg, which led to a position at HMCS Stadacona in Halifax as Stoker 1st Class. He also took courses there on mechanical drafting. Later, John was posted to active duty on the Corvette HMCS Rosthern, which performed escort service on supply convoy lines from Newfoundland, New York and Bermuda to England. John was the youngest of four siblings who served in WWII. His sister Helen, a Lieutenant, nursed in England, France and Belgium and his brother Dave, a Flight Lieutenant, was a Mosquito bomber pilot, while his other brother Clarence was a machinist in the RCNVR. John met and married Marry McMullen from Cape Breton while she attended Dalhousie University in Halifax. They raised four children. John is a member of Pine Falls Legion Branch 64. HUTCHINSON, F. Gordon WWII & SPECIAL DUTY AREA Gordon was born in 1918 in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in March 1942 and was stationed at Y Depot in Halifax, Nova Scotia before going overseas on December 25, 1942. Gordon was posted to Stn. Bournemouth of the Royal Air Force, then volunteered to go to India in 1943. He arrived in Bombay in September via the Mediterranean and Suez Canal and assisted with the opening of RCAF Stn. Dechi, attached to SEA AC.RAF. By February 1944, Gordon was back in the UK and he returned to Canada in May via U.S. transport. He was stationed at Royal Canadian Air Force Stn. Winnipeg before being discharged in November 1945 to the RCAF Reserve. Gordon has been a member of Portage la Prairie Legion Branch 65 for over fifty years.
