He joined the Army and served in the Royal Canadian Artillery in Canada and in the United Kingdom during World War II. Robert was a member of Selkirk Legion Branch 42. He died in 1992. GOODWILLIE, John WWII John was born in 1916 in the Rural Municipality of Langford, Manitoba. He joined the Canadian Navy and served as Chief Petty Officer on HMCS Prince David in the North Atlantic and in the Mediterranean during WWII. After the war, John returned to Winnipeg, but in 1946, moved to Red Lake, a rather remote mining town in northwestern Ontario. He married Mary Diakun and they had one son. John had been a cook in the Navy, so he and Mary opened and operated a successful restaurant and bakery in Red Lake for many years. John became very active in local politics and was the Reeve of the area for a number of years. He and Mary especially enjoyed their cottage just outside of Red Lake, where they could spend their free time fishing and enjoying the great outdoors. John was a member of Red Lake Legion Branch 102 for more than fifty years before he died in Red Lake in 1995. GRAHAM, Victor A. WWII Victor was born in Pilot Mound, Manitoba. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in Canada and England during WWII. Victor was a member of Pilot Mound Legion Branch 62 for fifty-two years before he passed away in 1998. GRAHAM, Charles Wesley “Charlie” WWI & WWII Charlie was born in Napinka, MB in 1897. He joined the Army during WWI and served in Manitoba from May 1918 to January 1919 with the 1st Depot Battalion and the 10th Canadian Garrison Regiment. Charlie served with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in England for five years during WWII. He was a member of Napinka Legion Branch 89 before he died in 1970.
