He enlisted in the 200-107th Battalion, served as a Private in France and Germany, and was discharged in Winnipeg in 1919. James was a member of Russell Legion Branch 159 before he died in 1970. FREDERICKSON, Etuind WWII Etuind was born in Denmark in 1924. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy and served as a Seaman along the Atlantic Coast of Canada during World War II. Etuind died in 1977. GARRIOCH, A. Vernon WWI & WWII Vernon was born in Poplar Point, MB in 1898. He enlisted in the Army during WWI and saw action in Belgium, France and Germany with the 79th Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Forces. Trench life was severe and he was sent to the United Kingdom to convalesce for health reasons. Entertainment groups had formed and they visited service camps, especially hospitals and rest camps. He was attracted to one of the entertainers and decided to take Gladys Mary Bartottback back with him to Portage la Prairie. At the onset of WWII, their two sons, David and Fawcett, enlisted, as well as his wife, Gladys. Vernon became a Sergeant on the Veterans Guard and served in Canada. He was a member of Portage la Prairie Legion Branch 65 for sixty years before he died in 1977. FULLERTON, David S. WWII David was born in Manitoba in 1915 and died in 1989. He served in the Army with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles in Canada, Britain and Northwest Europe and landed with his Regiment in Normandy on D-Day. David was a member of the Elmwood Legion Branch 9.
