He joined the Canadian Army and served in Italy during WWII. Raymond passed away in 1989. FENTON, W. R. WWII W. R. Fenton joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in Winnipeg in April 1941 and was discharged there in October 1945. Corporal Fenton served in England, France, Holland, Belgium, and Germany and received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the France and Germany Star. He has been a member of Russell Legion Branch 159. FERGUSON, Gordon A. WWII Gordon was born in Angusville, Manitoba in 1915. He enlisted in the Canadian Army in Winnipeg in October 1940 and served as a Gunner with the 1st LAA and Provost in England, Sicily, Italy, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. He fought on the front lines at the Battles of Sangro River, Ortona, Pontecorvo, Melfa River, Liri Valley, Cassino, Rimini, Ravenna, Forli, and Faenza. He also raided on the Mediterranean near Algiers, spent 21 days in hospital at Ravenna, and met Eleanor Staples whom he knew from Angusville, who was nursing there. Gordon also survived the Blitz of London and the Blitz of Glasgow. He was discharged in Winnipeg in November 1945. Gordon was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the Defence of England Medal, the Italy Star, and the France and Germany Star. He was a member of Russell Legion Branch 159 before he died in 1984. FENWICK, Noble Russell WWII Noble was born on September 23, 1918 in Tessier, Saskatchewan and the family moved to a farm near Souris, Manitoba when he was seven years old. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps at Portage la Prairie, Manitoba on January 20, 1942. He was sent overseas after basic training and aside from a three-month spell in a London hospital, spent the rest of the war as a driver for General Crerar. A week after D-Day, they arrived in France and continued on through to Belgium and Holland until the end of the war. In 1948, Noble married Ilene Dane with whom he had two sons. He was a member of Souris Legion Branch 60 before he passed away on November 20, 1996 at the age of 78.
