He enlisted in Winnipeg in 1918 and was discharged there in 1919. Private Davidson served with the 8th Battery in France during WWI. He was a member of Russell Legion Branch 159 before he died in 1982. DAVIES, Ernest “Ernie” WWII Ernie was born in 1920 in England and came to Canada when he was three years old. When war broke out, he volunteered and was first sent to England, then later to Italy, as well as to other parts of Europe. He returned to Winnipeg after his discharge and with his wife, raised two daughters. Ernie joined The Legion in Winnipeg and he died in 1988. His wife predeceased him. DAVIS, William Harold WWII William was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1923. He joined the Canadian Navy and served on HMCS Chippawa, Malaspena and Chignecto in Canada and on the high seas during WWII. William has been a member of Souris Legion Branch 60 for more than thirteen years. DAVIES, John “Jack” WWII Jack was born in Leigh Lancashire, England in 1908. His trade was that of a butcher when he enlisted on October 15, 1940 with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps. He completed his basic training at Camp Borden in Ontario then served in England, where he was able to spend some leave time with his oldest brother who resided there. Jack was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the Defence Medal. Back to civilian life in February 1946, he resumed working at Haver’s Locker Plant and he continued raising five children. His favourite pastime was playing the violin in “Kay & Jack’s Orchestra”, with his wife Kay at the piano and his brother-in-law Jack on the banjo. Jack was a member of Morris Legion Branch 111 for about twenty years. He died in 1961.
