WWII Earl was born in Whitemouth, Manitoba in 1917 and he served with the Lake Superior Regiment in Canada, Britain, France, Belgium and Holland during WWII. On February 15, 1945, his patrol ran into trouble at the Maas River and Sergeant Carlbom attempted a rescue with Sergeant Boomhower and Lieutenant Banks. They were ambushed, resulting in Earl being severely injured and dying of his wounds shortly after. Earl was eventually buried in the Canadian Military Cemetery in Holten, Holland. Lieutenant Colonel H. A. Parker wrote this about Sgt. Carlbom, “It can truly be said that he gave his life for others, and we in this Regiment are very proud to have known and fought with men like Sgt. Carlbom.” CARLSON, Roy Sylvester WWII Roy was born in Kenora, Ontario in 1919. He enlisted in the Canadian Army in 1940 and served with the Royal Canadian Signal Corps in Canada and Europe. He was a POW for about a year and was hospitalized in England for some time after the war. Roy was discharged in 1945 but re-enlisted in 1946, serving until 1969. After his first marriage in 1952, he served at several places across Canada. Roy was a member of Ontario’s Kenora Legion Branch 12 and he passed away in 1981. CATELLIER, Gilbert E. WWII Gilbert was born in Saint Malo, Manitoba in 1924. He joined the Army and served in Canada during World War II. Gilbert was a member of Beauséjour Legion Branch 132 for thirty-five years before he died in 1988. CARSWELL, Joseph WWII Joseph was born in Madawaska, Ontario in 1918. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in Canada, North Africa, England, and Europe during WWII. Joseph has been a member of the Nestor Falls Legion Branch for over five years.
