He joined the Canadian Army and served with the Fort Garry Horse Regiment in Europe during WWI. William was a member of Pilot Mound Legion Branch 62 before he died in 1961. WINSLOW, Charles D. “Charlie” WWII Charlie was born in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba in 1926. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps in Winnipeg in 1944 at the age of 18 and was stationed in Winnipeg, Kingston, Ontario and Dundurn, Saskatchewan during WWII. He was on his way to the South Pacific when the war ended. He was discharged on October 5, 1946. Charlie was a member of Souris Legion Branch 60 for thirtyseven years before he passed away in 2004. WISHART, William Elgin “Tink” WWII Tink was born in Russell, Manitoba in 1923. He enlisted in Winnipeg in January 1942 and was discharged there in November 1945. He joined the Seaforth Highlanders and served as a Private in Canada, England, and Continental Europe. He received the Defence Medal, the Italy Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp, the France and Germany Star, George V Medal, and the 1939-45 Star. Tink was a member of Russell Legion Branch 159 for fifty-four years before he died in 2002. WISHART, James R. WWII James was born in 1919 in Scotland and immigrated to Canada. In Gladstone, Manitoba on June 10, 1941, he enlisted in the Canadian Army, joining the 4th Canadian Armoured Division. James received his basic training in Winnipeg and CFB Shilo. He was then deployed to Sussex, New Brunswick and trained to provide logistical support with the Canadian Army Service Corps. He left for overseas from Halifax aboard the HMS Cameronia in 1942. After serving in England, his division crossed to Normandy, France following the D-Day invasion in 1944. He advanced to the rank of Sergeant, serving in Belgium, Holland and Germany. He remained in postwar Europe and returned to Canada in the Fall of 1945. He was a member of the Reserve Forces until July 31, 1946. James was a member of Gladstone Legion Branch 110 for twenty-six years until his passing in November 1996.
