He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps in March 1942 and served in Canada, Italy, Continental Europe, and England. He was discharged in January 1945 and received Service Medals. William has been a member of Russell Legion Branch 159 for over sixty-two years. REA, Leslie WWII Leslie enlisted on January 4, 1940 in Winnipeg and was discharged there a few months later, on July 19. Private Rea served with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in England and was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. Leslie was a member of Russell Legion Branch 159. He is deceased. RICHARD, Frank J. WWII Frank was born in 1924 in St. Boniface, Manitoba. In August 1943, he enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force and went to England in February 1944, where he served with Bomber Command at Topcliffe and Dishforth Supply Section. After serving in the 1664 Heavy Conversion Unit, he returned home in June 1946. Richard has been a member of Portage la Prairie Legion Branch 65 for over fortyseven years. REMPEL, John WWII John was born on April 1, 1919 and he worked in the Morris area until enlisting in the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWII. He was stationed in England with the 405 Goose Squadron, #6 Canadian Bomber Group. After the war, he worked in mines in Ontario and Manitoba and married Vivian Roy of Morris in 1949. He drove transfer from Morris to Winnipeg for almost 20 years, then moved to Edmonton in 1970 to work for the Federal Government. He retired in 1985 and stayed in Edmonton until he passed away in 2008 at the Kipnes Veteran’s Facility. He wife Vivian continues to live in the sister facility beside Kipnes. John was a member of Morris Legion Branch 111.
