181 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca PRUDEN, Robert Percival WWII Robert was born in Selkirk, Manitoba on May 8, 1927. He enlisted in the Army on May 22, 1944 at No.10 District Depot General List (A) and served as a Gunner in Canada. He received the War Medal 1939-45. After the war, he worked in lumber camps and was a member of Selkirk Legion Branch 42. Robert died on December 4, 1951 and is buried in St. Clements Cemetery beside his grandfather. RANNIE, Douglas H. WWII Douglas was born in Binscarth, Manitoba and served in Canada during World War II. He was a member of Virden Legion Branch 8 for thirty-five years before he died in 1991. RATCLIFFE, Thomas Massey WWI Thomas was born in 1884 in Colne, Lancashire, England and became a graduate of Sandhurst in 1903. He enlisted at Watford, United Kingdom in November 1914 and served with the King Edward’s Horse (K.O.D.R.), King’s Liverpool Regiment, 9th Battalion, E. Yorks in England, Ireland, France, Belgium, and Italy. Captain Ratcliffe was discharged in Winchester, United Kingdom in October 1919 and was awarded the King Edward VI Coronation Medal, the 1914-15 Star, the Victory Medal and the Service Medal. Thomas was gassed during the war. He was a member of Russell Legion Branch 159 before he died in 1952. RATCLIFFE, Thomas C. WWII Thomas enlisted in Winnipeg in July 1943 and was discharged there in July 1946. After serving in Canada as a Leading Aircraftman in the Royal Canadian Air Force, he was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. Thomas has been a member of Russell Legion Branch 159.
