He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Artillery, transferred to the South Saskatchewan Regiment, 2 Division, and served in Belgium, Holland and Germany during WWII. He was also a Bandsman in the original R.C.A. band in Brandon. MOIR, Cyril G. WWII Cyril was born in Hartney, Manitoba in 1920. He joined the Army and served in England, Italy, France, Belgium, and Holland with #12 Postal Unit CPC, 5th Canadian Armoured Division Postal Unit. After the war, he worked at the postal tracing section in Brussels and London. Cyril has been a Life Member of Hartney Legion Branch 26 for over sixty-three years, as well as Past President and Past Secretary/Treasurer. MOIR, Harvey R. PEACETIME Harvey was born in Hartney, Manitoba on April 8, 1928. He joined the Navy in HMCS Chippawa in Winnipeg on August 12, 1946 and served until September 16, 1970, 24 years and one month. Harvey served on the following ships: HMCS Uganda, Rockcliffe, Sault Ste. Marie, New Glasgow, New Waterford, Saguenay and Saskatchewan and the following shore establishments: HMCS Naden, Malahat, Nonsuch, Naval Radio Station Andergrove and Donnacona. He was discharged on September 16, 1970 as a Chief Petty Officer 2nd Class. MOIR, George A. WWI George was born in Tooting, Surrey, England in 1888. He joined the Canadian Army and served in the 78th Battalion Winnipeg Grenadiers, the 12th Canadian T.M. Battery and transferred to the 87th Grenadier Guards. He fought in the battles of Ypres, Somme, Vimy, La Courcelette, Lens, Hill 70, Passchendaele, and Valenciennes. George was a Life Member of Hartney Legion Branch 26 before he died in 1961.
