WWII Forrest enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in Winnipeg in May 1941 and was discharged there in March 1945. He served as a Flight Officer in Canada, Scotland and England and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the 1939-45 Star, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp. Forrest has been a member of Russell Legion Branch 159. MANSELL, T. M. WWII T. M. Mansell enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in Winnipeg in August 1941 and served in Canada and England. Leading Aircraftman Mansell was discharged in October 1945 in Boundary Bay, British Columbia. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the Defence Medal. He has been a member of Russell Legion Branch 159. MARKS, Ernie E. WWII Ernie was born in Emerson, Manitoba in 1923. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in Canada during WWII. Ernie has been a member of Fort Garry Legion Branch 90 for over sixty-five years. MARKS, Alexander T. WWII Alexander was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1924. He served in the Army with the Cameron Highlanders in Canada, England and Northwest Europe. Shipped overseas two weeks after the Dieppe Raid, he considered himself lucky and was often heard saying, “I could take orders that might get me killed, but I could not give an order that might get others killed.” Alexander was a member of Fort Garry Legion Branch 90 and Imperial Vets Legion Branch 84 for a total of forty-nine years before he passed away in 2003.
