101 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca KISSICK, Victor Robert David WWII Victor was born in 1920 and he grew up in Emerson and Letellier, where he finished his Grade 12. He worked as a plumber’s aide and worked in Airdroms putting plumbing in barracks. Victor joined the Royal Canadian Air Force on May 30, 1941 and trained in Trenton, ON, Paulson and Brandon, MB, and Regina, SK. He shipped out on May 29, 1942. Flight Sergeant Kissick served as an air gunner with the RCAF and 50 Squadron, RAF. On March 12, 1943, on his 13th mission, his plane was shot down on an Essen operation and crashed at Well (Limburg) on the east bank of the Maas, 8 km ENE of Venray, Holland. All were taken to Venlo for burial and the remains were moved to Jonkerbos War Cemetery. KLOBUCH, Bernard J. WWII Bernard was born in Poland in 1924 and died in 1992. He joined the Polish Army and served in Italy and Northwest Europe during WWII. Bernard was a Life Member of Keewatin Legion Branch 13. KNIGHT, George WWI George was born in Croydon, Surrey, England in 1885. He enlisted in Winnipeg in 1914 and served in England with the 25th Res. Battalion, Canadian Army Pay Corps, during WWI. Sergeant Knight was discharged in Halifax in 1919 and received the Victory Medal. George was a member of Russell Legion Branch 159. KNIGHT, David H. WWII David was born in Durban, Manitoba on February 21, 1913. He flew on Lancaster bombers while serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force with 550 Squadron and 100 Squadron. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Star of Europe, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, and the 1939-45 Star. David was a Charter Member of Henderson Hwy Legion Branch 215, as well as a founding member in 1947. He held the positions of President in 1965 and from 1967-1974, and received his 60-year Medal in 2007 on the 60th Anniversary of The Legion Branch. He passed away on January 7, 2009 at the age of 95.
