He joined the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve and served in the northern part of Canada. Edward received the 1939-45 Star, the Atlantic Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the Defence Medal and the 1939-45 War Medal. Edward spoke little of the war before he passed away in 1962. KYLE, Edwin John “Jack” WWII Jack was born in 1920 in Boissevain, Manitoba, Morton Municipality. He took his pre-enlistment training with the Royal Canadian Air Force in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Montreal, Quebec. Jack served as a wireless operator in Canada, England, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany for three and a half years. LANSDOWN, Gilbert H. WWI Gilbert was born in London, England in 1872 and joined the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps, serving in Siberia. In 1918, the Allies created an expeditionary force to go to Siberia, fearing that Germany would receive military supplies in the Russian Far East via the Trans-Siberian Railway. The Canadian Siberian Expeditionary Force, including Dr. Gilbert Lansdown, Medical Officer of the 10th Machine Gun Battalion (Winnipeg), sailed on October 11, 1918 from Victoria, British Columbia and arrived on the 26th in the city of Vladivostok where Canadian soldiers were then responsible for policing duties. The Canadian Army Hospital was established at former Czarist barracks at Golden Horn Bay where Canadian troops were billeted. Public opinion turned against the expedition resulting in the return of all Canadian troops by June 1919. Gilbert passed away in 1954. LAKE, Steven K. SPECIAL DUTY AREA & PEACETIME Steven was born in 1982 in Hamilton, Ontario. He joined the Army and served with the 1st Regiment, Royal Canadian Horse Artillery in Canada and Afghanistan. Steven was awarded the South West Asia Medal.
