7 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca ADAMS, Clarence Percival WWII & KOREA & SPECIAL DUTY AREA & PEACETIME Clarence was born in Selkirk, Manitoba in 1926 to Percival and Marion Adams. He joined the Army in October 1944, served in Winnipeg with the Canadian Infantry Corps, and was discharged in 1945 on demobilization. He later re-enlisted for the Korean War and served from 1952-53 with the 1st Battalion, Royal Canadian Regiment, Airborne Division. Clarence also served in Germany and with the Emergency Forces in Egypt from 1956-57. He was awarded the British War Medal 1939-45, the Canadian Korea Medal, the United Nations Service Medal for Korea, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal for Korea. He was a member of Selkirk Legion Branch 42. Clarence died in 1988 and is buried at Clements in Selkirk. Manitoba. ADAMS, Ernest Gordon WWII Ernest was born in 1903 to Joseph and Harriet Adams of Selkirk, Manitoba. He enlisted in the Army in Winnipeg in September 1939 and served five years with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles in England and Europe during World War II. He was awarded the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the War Medal 1939-45. Ernest was a member of Selkirk Legion Branch 42 before he died in 1973. He is buried in St. Clements, Selkirk. ADAMS, Leslie J. PEACETIME Leslie was born in Selkirk, Manitoba in 1941. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served with NORAD in Canada and in the United States. Primarily, he served at Canadian Forces stations in Canada and attended training schools in Biloxi, Mississippi and the Federal Aviation Administration Academy in Oklahoma. Leslie was promoted to Sergeant in 1979 and awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration with Clasp. He has been a member of Selkirk Legion Branch 42 for forty-seven years. ADAMS, George H. WWII George joined the Chaplaincy Service in Winnipeg in September 1941 and served as Honorary Captain in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany during World War II. He was awarded the War Medal 1939-45, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the Defence Medal. George was discharged in January 1946 in Winnipeg and has been a member of Russell Legion Branch 159.
