He worked at a local bank before he joined the payroll division of the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1939. After serving in Canada during the war, he worked as a bank manager in Edmonton, Alberta and managed hotels, including some on the Alaska Highway and the Nevada Lodge at Lake Tahoe, Nevada, where he passed away on April 29, 1994. HENDERSON, Wilbert Duncan WWI Wilbert was born in Boissevain, Manitoba on May 8, 1894. He joined the Army and served with the 16th Canadian Scottish Regiment in Canada, England, France and Belgium. He was gassed in France and interned as a Prisoner of War in Belgium. Wilbert died on Ganges Salt Spring Island in British Columbia on December 13, 1981. HICKS, Clarence W. WWI Clarence was born in Ninga, Manitoba in 1894. He enlisted in the Army and served with the 100th Winnipeg Grenadiers in Canada, Great Britain and France, where he was killed in action in Loos in 1917. HENDERSON, Wilbert Wray WWII Wilbert was born in Boissevain, Manitoba on July 1, 1925. He joined the Air Cadets while at school and in October 1943, enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force where he served with Air Traffic Control in Edmonton, then in Calgary, Alberta. Discharged in 1945, he worked in Boissevain as a mechanic then moved to Flin Flon where he was employed with the Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting Company Ltd., from May 1949 to January 1985, at which time he retired. Wilbert was a member of Flin Flon Legion Branch 73 for over fifty years.
