He joined the Army and served with the Engineers, Royal Canadian Service Corps in Canada and England where he was injured, resulting in his going on pension. HARVIE, Herbert G. WWII Herbert was born in Boissevain, Manitoba on June 14, 1922. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served with 426 Squadron in Canada, England and Germany. He was a member of Boissevain Legion Branch 10 for fifty-five years. Herbert died in 2000. HENDERSON, Elmer WWII Elmer was born in Boissevain, Manitoba in 1918. He worked for a short time as a mechanic in Boissevain before joining the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941. He married in 1942 and went overseas as a Flight Engineer and mechanic, serving as a Sergeant in Britain until his discharge in 1946. In 1947, Elmer and his wife moved to Libertyville, Illinois where he was employed as a Road Commissioner for the United States Government until he retired. Elmer passed away in 2002. HAY, John Charles WWII John was born in Dauphin, Manitoba in 1909. He joined the Army and served with the Winnipeg Grenadiers in Jamaica and Hong Kong during World War II. He was awarded the Pacific Star, the 1939-45 Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the Victory Medal and the War Medal 1939-45. He was a member of British Columbia’s Cumberland Legion Branch 28 for thirty years before he died in 1999.
