He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in England from 1939 to 1945. Harold passed away in 1965. No additional information is available. GOODIN, Roger J. KOREA & SPECIAL DUTY AREA Roger was born in Deloraine, Manitoba in 1929. He joined the Army and served with Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in Korea and Japan. He said that he had seen a lot of action and that it was too much to talk about. Roger has been with Boissevain Legion Branch 10 for eight years. GOULDIE, Gordon Charles WWII & PEACETIME Gordon was born in Bowsman, MB in 1925. He joined the Army in 1943, served in Europe and was discharged in 1946. He then worked with his two brothers, Don and Leonard, before joining the Navy in 1948. He married Hilda East in 1950 and was posted to Esquimalt until 1960, then Halifax for two years, then back to Victoria. Gordon left the Navy in 1971 after serving on the High Seas and in Europe on HMCS Antigonish, Ontario, Crusader, Athabaskan, Sussexvale, New Waterford, Margaree, St. Croix, and Columbia. After traveling with Hilda through the US and Canada for three years, Gordon worked with the BC Department of Highways for ten summers and wintered in California. In 1985, Gordon and Hilda retired to British Columbia, first in Oliver, then Penticton. Gordon has been a member of Boissevain Legion Branch 10 for three years. GOULDIE, Donald Benjamin “Don” WWII Don was born in Prince George, British Columbia on September 12, 1914. He worked on farms and at various jobs before he married Esther Monson in 1938. They moved to Toronto, Ontario in 1940 where he worked at the Anaconda Brass Foundry and Esther made bullet-proof gas tanks for fighter planes at Goodyear Tire. They were there for seven years, two of which he spent in the Army, serving as an inspector with the Canadian Infantry Corps ACER in Woodstock, Ontario. Much to his frustration, he never got to go overseas and he was discharged in 1946. Don and Esther raised a daughter and a son and he died in 2007.
