He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy on July 21, 1944 as Ordinary Seaman and served in Canada and in the North Atlantic. He did his basic training at HMCS Chippewa in Winnipeg, transferred to HMCS Cornwallis for Seamanship training, and then transferred again to HMCS Shelburne, Nova Scotia. After World War II ended, he was discharged on February 25, 1946 as Able Seaman at HMCS Chippewa-Winnipeg. Allan started working for Manitoba Telephone System in 1947and retired in 1985 after 38 years of service. He was a member of Souris Legion Branch 60 for fiftyeight years. FINNBOGASON, Sigmundur “Siggi” WWII Siggi was born in Geysir, Manitoba in 1919. He joined the Army and served in Canada, Britain and Italy during World War II. In February 1944, Siggi was north of Ortona in Italy when he sustained head injuries. He was sent back to England where he had to have his right eye removed. Siggi was a member of Elmwood Legion Branch 9 for thirty-five years and he passed away in 1997. FISHER, John Alexander WWI & WWII John was born in Ninga, Manitoba on October 2, 1892. He was a farmer and school teacher when he joined the Army and served with the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force in Canada, England and France. He was a member of General Alexander Ross Legion Branch 77 in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. He died in 1980. FISHER, Clarence J. WWI Clarence was born in Ninga, Manitoba on March 24, 1897. He was a farmer when he joined the Army and was still in training in Winnipeg, Manitoba when the war ended. Clarence passed away in 1974.
