35 The Royal Canadian Legion MANITOBA & NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO COMMAND www.mbnwo.ca DICKSON, Archibald E. “Archie” WWII Archie was born in 1921 in Boissevain, Manitoba. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) in 1942 and served in North Africa, England and India. He was a Navigator with the Royal Air Force’s Ferry Command / Aircraft Ferry Units in the Middle East until the war in Europe ended. Still overseas, Archie transferred back to the RCAF and joined 426 Squadron in order to fly service men and employees in government services from India back to Britain. In 1946, after a year with the #426, he returned to Canada and was discharged. Archie passed away in 2007. DIMIT, Charles Lysander WWII Charles was born in Togo, Saskatchewan in 1914. He enlisted in the Army on April 25, 1941 and served as a Gunner with the 17th Field Regiment in Italy. Charles has been a member of General Lipsett Legion Branch 99 for fifty-five years. DUECK, John WWII John was born in Herbert, Saskatchewan in December 1908. A farmer when he enlisted in the Army on February 5, 1942 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, John went on to serve as a driver with the Canadian Forestry Corps and the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps in Africa, Italy, France and Germany during WWII. John was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal, and the Italy Star. John was a member of Boissevain Legion Branch 10 before he died in 1978. DOUGALL (nee DAW), Ruth C. WWII Ruth was born in Boissevain, Manitoba in 1925. She joined the Royal Canadian Women’s Army Corps and served in Canada during World War II. She was a member or Boissevain Legion Branch 10 for ten years. Ruth passed away in 2005.
